Dunham Forest Trophy
This week we faced Bury G.C in the first round of the Dunham Forest Trophy and we came out Victorious. It was a close game with three of the seven games going to extra holes and another two going to the last. I was fortunate enough to claim my victory on the last hole 2up. Well done to team and on to the next round which will hopefully be a little drier!
For as wet as it was on Sunday, the greens were superb and held up really well which all the Bury members commented on, so a big thank you to Ritchie and his team for all their successful hard work.

The majority of clubs brought in for Ring-Bay have now been sold via golf bidder with over £2000 going on to members accounts. If you have any clubs that you would like to trade in for pro shop credit please drop them in and we will turn old into new!!! (Please note that certain clubs won't be taken as well as marks to the top of metal woods).
Ladies Training
On Friday we held a training morning for the ladies, which consisted of Before the Round, During the Round and After the round.
Before the Round was run by Sam delivering a TPI Dynamic Warm up to get the body ready to play on the 1st tee rather than having to wait till the 4th before you start swinging the club.
During the round was run by myself, where we focused on awkward lies around the green, so you can approach the shot with a plan and knowledge on how to execute rather than looming thought of 'Oh no, what's going to happen now'.
Then After the round was run by Katie, our resident Pilates instructor on ways to keep improving your strength and flexibility for the long term. As well as stretching after a hard round to be ready for your dynamic warm up the following morning.
Thank you to the ladies that attended and the lovely comments that were received after the event.
Custom Fitting New Clubs
Lots of custom fit's have taken place and new clubs are arriving every day.
I had Titleist come by to run some training on the new equipment out there and best practices for fitting, whilst they were here we ran a fitting for Tim Hirst as our test subject.
Lots was taken on board and Tim came out with some interesting numbers of improvement!
Click here to get in touch if you are interested in getting custom fitted.
April Coaching
Starting in April we will be kicking off with the junior coaching sessions with times for members and non-members and Sam will also be running specific events for seniors and ladies with the first one being 'Let's go Bonkers for Bunkers' come and see Sam for more information.
Pro's 9 Hole Stablefords
From the start of the season we will also be running pro's 9 hole Stableford multi day competition on a Thursday and Friday. Sign in on the day, yellow tees and counting for handicap. This will be open to all members of the club with no handicap limit. Prizes will be determined by the amount of players taking part week on week. The golf committee and I feel it will be a great way for everyone to get a little bit more competition and a perfect format for those that maybe don't want to have to slog it out over 18 holes and for the men, off the white tees.
It would be great to see Juniors, Ladies both Members and Associates' and Men both Gold and Silver categories joining in together over this quicker format and enjoying a drink together in the bar. Watch out for Sam and Myself joining you on the 1st tee as well on occasion.
The Masters
Finally The Masters is nearly upon us and we have some exciting plans to hold Friday at The Masters here at RGC. With a different format for the first Friday Medal and some different for in the bar afterwards. Mark the date in you Diary, Friday 7th April for coming down to the club and creating a great atmosphere after an enjoyable game on the course.
