Last Week
I had some time off last week and went to Nefyn (not to play golf unfortunately), but I had a great time with my girls and family, generally acting like a big kid jumping into the sea and down the water slide. The shop was left in Sam's more than capable hands, who did a great job and we even received an email from a member complimenting Sam's excellent customer service.
I drove back Friday morning for our PING demonstration day for which we had 16 members booked in to be fitted for new products, only to find out that through a mistake by PING there wouldn't be anyone attending (not impressed as you can imagine). My sincere apologies to all those booked and I have a meeting this coming week to discuss how we amend the situation. I will let you know all know as soon as another date is finalised.
My Wife and kids are still in Nefyn, so I took the opportunity on Sunday after work to play as it was such a lovely evening. It was an absolute pleasure to be out there, with the condition of the course exceptional and the best I have seen it for a long time. The greens looked and putted perfectly, the shape and definition of the course, especially around the green was just how I would expect to find it from when I spent time in America. Richie, his team and the Course committee are doing a great job and with the plans they have in place it will just get better.
I would like to congratulate them all and keep up the good work.

Success For My Pupils
A very big congratulations to Ben Aardewerk for another great round in this week's Buckley Brooks with a nett 67, including two seven's on his card. Ben has been dropped from 26 to 19 over the last three weeks including two shots for exceptional scoring.
Another notable mention has to go to Richard Brewster, who has gone from nine to six this season, with a 0.6 reduction for exceptional scoring after the Friday Medal, which didn't stop him from playing a great round on Saturday with a nett 70.
Congratulations to both.

New Competition
We have now set up and are ready to roll out a new competition for all member categories with a club handicap. Competitions will commence on Thursday, 22 June.
It's an alternate day, which is a nine hole Pro's Stableford competition that can be played on either a Thursday or a Friday. Men from the yellow tees and ladies from the red tees over the front nine holes. Entry is £1.50, with prizes to be confirmed depending on entry numbers. Entry for the competition is done on a roll up basis and doesn't require you to enter beforehand and you can play in two, three or fourball's.
I believe, along with the committee it is a perfect way to get out on the course if you are short on time, just getting into the game or struggling to manage a full 18 holes off the white tees. Not to mention a nice way to get another competitive round in to reduce your handicap.
Please be aware of tee availability on a Thursday with society bookings, but even on our busiest of days getting out after 18:00pm is always possible and the round should take less than two hours. If you are wondering if the tee is available please call the pro shop to confirm.
Also note that if you play on the Thursday you can't play on the Friday in the nine hole competition and if you play on a Friday you can't then enter the Friday medal or vice versa.
