Time to ramp up the Practice
We've had a bit of a miserable week in terms of the weather…again…but that doesn’t change the fact that the golf season is fast approaching! We are just weeks away from the first handicap qualifying competition of the year, therefore it’s time to ramp up the practice! Even when the course is shut there is a lot that you can do at the range, putting or even at home to prepare your game for the upcoming season. My advice is to hone YOUR swing – If you have been going through a swing changes over the winter then that is completely fine, but as it gets so close to the qualifying competitions, I find that it’s most important to have a swing that you are comfortable with. At the end of the day everyone has their own swing which is natural to them, so play with it!
Of course, there may be some major flaws in your swing that you need to straighten out before getting into competitions, in which case I recommend having a lesson or filming your swing to see if there’s anything obvious that you need to change first.
Furthermore, I believe that golfers should only have one swing thought in their head, at least with long game swings that is, because sometimes the worst thing you can do is overthink the shot mid-swing which can result in a miss-hit shot. |
