Great to see!
Not only was the course open for Saturdays’ Greensome Medal competition, but the sun was out for the third day running! It was really great to see things finally returning to normal, and especially great to see the low scores produced by some of the pairs…
Congratulations to the worthy winners James Blower & David Gibson with a 7-under gross involving 2 eagles! A special mention also goes to Ian Coffey & Stephen Surplus who carded 4 birdies in their round on their way to a 2nd place finish. 14 twos were scored on Saturday, which is good to see because it’s an indication that the greens are in good condition. In my opinion, good greens lead to more enjoyable golf as the player is more in control on and around the green; there are less variables to deal with.
There were a total of 2 eagles scored on Saturday, both scored the winning team made up of James Blower & David Gibson on the 2nd & 11th hole. Whether they drove the green on 11 or holed the approach I’m not sure, but I am interested to find out as you do not see that very often!
Grab a bargain In the shop there is still time to grab a bargain for size 8 & 10 golf shoes in our clearance sale. This promotion goes on until Thursday 12th March, with two new sizes going on sale from Friday so look out for that.
All about feel!
The longer I play golf the more I realise just how important chipping and pitching are. If you can rely on your short game then it really takes the stress off the longer shots, as well as leaving you with many more hole-able putts! For me, short game is almost all about feel. This is why making sure you have the right wedges for you is so significant.
In the shop we have a wide range of new wedges across many different brands which you can try out for yourself. There is less than a month until the 2020 golf season so why not start with the right equipment to ensure you get the best out of your game?
Sports news In sports news, United came out on top in the Manchester derby beating City 2-0. City were not without their injuries, but as a United fan, it was positive to see a bit of the classic Manchester derby fight from the players.
In the world of golf, Englishman Tyrrell Hatton won for the first time on the PGA tour last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Conditions were very tough most the week for all of the players, with McIlroy shooting a 4-over-par final round resulting in a tie for 5th place. Hatton’s final round of 2-over was just enough to earn him the title, making him $1,674,000 richer as a result!
Get ready! With the first qualifying Saturday competition starting 11th April, practice is key! Get yourself a lesson if you can in order to properly prepare yourself. Fingers crossed for the weather and, as always, I hope to see as many of you as possible in the shop the next week. I am always interested in your own game so update me whenever possible!
I will leave you with a quote from Ben Hogan: “This is a game of misses. The golfer who misses the best is going to win.”
