I'm still recovering from an enthralling day on Saturday! The Humphreys scratch (club championship) was one for ages, with a tough course and tough conditions, scoring wasn't easy. A new format of being paired in reverse order meant a strong last 3 ball of Featherstone, Wallwork and Hirst (Tim, sorry Mason). After 36 holes, Tim and Henry couldn't be separated after fantastic birdies from Henry on the 15th and 17th. A 3-hole playoff would determine the winner, and with excellent golf from both players Tim came out on top with some excellent iron play and a clutch putt, for his 1st Club Championship. A great comment from Ian Rankin watching the playoff "this is the first live sport I've watched this year" The Captain got to dress splendidly in his Jacket and present the prizes. I would go as far as to say that overall the whole club won on what was a great day for Ringway.

It’s easy to forget the fact that it is already September, so of course, the weather isn’t going to be great. But there is still plenty of golf to be played this year! In golf news, Dustin Johnson really came back with a bang this PGA Tour season, winning the FedEx Cup in style, bagging himself a decent $15 Million bonus in the process! We had our club championship on Saturday and although we were not playing for quite as much money, it was a really exciting and close affair…going to a playoff! Try something new this week |
| There's a new ball in town As its name suggests, this ball is all about delivering maximum speed on full swing shots. What does that mean for your game? Longer carries and added distance without needing to hit the ball any harder. But it's not all about speed as this new ball provides a penetrating flight off the tee as well as lots of spin and control around the greens. It really is a fantastic all-round package. Plus, it comes in at a great price point! Pop by the pro shop if you want to give these a try.
|
| | | This week, we have a few interesting instances of common instances that we find on the course, relating to foursome play, and a case of a mistaken ball!
We also have a small weekly quiz, where correct answers will be added to a draw to win a sleeve of Callaway Supersoft golf balls!
Please note that while the deadline for submitting answers in the video is Monday 7th September. The actual deadline for submission is midnight on Sunday 13th.
Enjoy!

DJ wins big How does a $15 million payday sound to you? For playing golf? Dustin Johnson finally achieved one of the few things missing from his CV on Monday evening when he stepped off the 18th green at East Lake GC. Sadly, there were no fans to cheer him on, but DJ won the TOUR Championship and, as a result, the season-long FedEx Cup - the PGA Tour's order of merit. If ever there was a deserving winner, it’s a man who finished the season T2-1-2-1; a run that started at the PGA Championship. Seeing DJ back to his best makes for beautiful viewing. If you’d like to give your playing partners some better viewing on the course, why not book in for a lesson with a member of the team? |
