We hope you're playing well and haven't got too wet recently! Have you noticed our windows yet? The winter clothes are out in the shop and as always lots of bargains to be had. I have more items on the way as well so make sure you bring your masks for a good look around. Even better if you buy a coffee you can look around whilst having a drink. We had our penultimate Operation36 Challenge match on Sunday which finished with spotlights lighting up the 18th green, but it was worth it as Ellis Courtnell passed Division 6 and now has the challenge of playing from the red tees. By the way, he is 10 years old and after an earlier 77, he has reduced his handicap to 10, yes that's a ten-year-old with a ten handicap. We are now in double figures for Academy members as well with a mix of juniors and ladies, so the future is bright and Op36 is going better than I could have imagined.

Sports News In sports news, Aaron Rai defeated Tommy Fleetwood in a playoff to win Scottish Open! Sergio Garcia won on the PGA Tour for the first time in three years last week at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He narrowly beat Peter Malnati by one-stroke which came thanks to a birdie on the final hole. His last PGA Tour win came at the 2017 Masters where he famously beat Justin Rose in a playoff to win his sole Major title. There were a couple of big upsets in the premier league football – Manchester United losing 6-1 to Spurs, and the champions Liverpool losing 7-2 to Aston Villa! 2020 really has been a weird year in every sense!

This weeks ruling focusses on the instance whereby a player may have to lift a ball in order to identify whether it is theirs or not, and what you have to do in that instance to avoid a penalty.
We also have the answer with an explanation to last week's quiz question as well as a new question for you for this week.
Enjoy!

Golf's back on UK soil
When Sergio Garcia won The Masters in 2017, every headline was along the lines of ‘Finally!’. More than three years later, his win at the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship marks his first win since and prompted many similar headlines. Although, did you know both victories involved Sergio putting with his eyes shut at impact? On the European Tour, Tommy Fleetwood looked to cap the return of the big names at the Scottish Open, a Rolex Series event, with a victory. But fellow Englishman Aaron Rai upset the odds to beat Fleetwood in a playoff that saw Tommy miss from a couple of feet at the first playoff hole. Both storylines demonstrate the importance of putting well when the pressure's on. So, if you struggle with holing out or three-putt too many times due to poor distance control, send us a message below and we'll be happy to help.
